New cash-in-transit robbery deterrent
29 May 2008

IBP Group has launched its new cash-in-transit robbery deterrent product named tracer-dot™, a unique identifier system for use with cash degradation systems.

Each tracer-dot™ also has a holographic background, which can be customised with a user’s logo.

Each batch contains 20,000 0.3mm individual tracer-dots™, each one engraved with a unique 7 digit alpha numeric code, specific to that batch.

Neil Chrismas, IBP-Group’s Sales Director, said: “The new patented technology allows for simple identification and recovery of evidence as only one dot is needed in order to capture the unique code. Low cost identification is facilitated by means of a 60-100X pocket magnifier already widely used by police and law enforcement agencies.”

Each tracer-dot™ also has a holographic background, which can be customised with a user’s logo, aiding traceability and can be used with existing ‘DNA’ markers to assist with front-line identification of the origin of stolen banknotes.

The dots are made from a magnetic metal enabling investigating officers to use a simple magnet to recover the tracer-dots™ from clothing and other evidential sources, without the need for forensic expertise.

The benefit of this new technology is the simple method of recovering evidence with low cost investment for police, raising the deterrent value of cash degradation systems and making it a cost-effective solution in helping to reduce cash-in-transit crime.

The main features of tracer-dots™:
20,000 tracer-dots™ per batch – only one required for evidential identification – raises the deterrent value of existing systems
Etched with a code, unique to each batch
0.3mm diameter – one-third the size of other polyester security dots
Easily read using low-cost hand-held or electronic magnifier
Robust nickel composition
No corrosion by tested dyes
Can be deployed as a front-line identifier with existing ‘DNA’ markers
