Regular Focus on Robbery™ Symposium sponsors Axytrans win the coveted IBP-Flying Squad Challenge
02 October 2006

Following the highly successful 2006 Focus on Robbery™ Symposium, held at Hayling Island Sailing Club on 14 and 15 September, the annual IBP-Flying Squad Challenge Trophy yacht race took place in Hayling Bay.

Four teams took part in this friendly, but seriously contested sailing competition to win the coveted trophy donated by the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad in recognition of the long-standing partnership between the Flying Squad and IBP.

IBP International has supported the work of the Flying Squad for over ten years in the provision of rapid reaction smoke-dye packs for vulnerable retail premises in order that they have time to improve their security during that critical period, following a robbery, when repeat victimisation is at the highest risk.

The competition took place under blustery weather conditions in Hayling Bay.

In blustery weather conditions the crews set out from Hayling Island Sailing Club under the supervision of professional skippers to compete in the two legs of the competition, which were won by the highly capable Axytrans team.

Axytrans team leader, Thibaut Plagne, known as T-bone to his British friends, was delighted with the result and thanked the skipper and crew for helping to bring the IBP-Flying Squad Challenge Trophy to France.

It was noted that Neil Chrismas, IBP Marketing Director and former team leader of the IBP yacht that came last in the 2005 competition, was part of the winning Axytrans team. When questioned as to his change of allegiance he initially attempted to avoid this investigative line of enquiry, but under pressure stated: “It was pure coincidence I was on the winning team and any accusation to the contrary will be dealt with by my solicitor.”

Detective Superintendent Bob Cummings, head of the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad, presented the trophy and thanked IBP for arranging the Focus on Robbery™ Symposium and an afternoon of most enjoyable sailing.
