New “DNA” deterrent against robbery IBP International launched ECA Smoketrace™, a unique “DNA” identifier for Smokenote™ Robbery Control Systems at IBP’s Focus on Robbery Symposium at Hayling Island Sailing Club on 9 September 2004.
Smoketrace™ was created to support Police investigation and assist in securing conviction as a real deterrent against robbery. Smoketrace™ conforms to one of the five pillars of the Police Raid-control™ initiative – “Stolen Cash Traceable” – providing forensic evidence to assist Police and Forensic organisations in identifying stained banknotes back to a specific incident. The chemical coding with Smoketrace™ can be used in evidence to identify stolen banknotes, clothing, skin or hair swabs found on suspects, back to the incident, using an LPS 1224 database which complies with police evidence procedures. The system brings a new level of deterrent to the already widely deployed Smokenote™ System. “All 14000 systems used in the UK and Ireland can have the system at the next maintenance visit,” said Neil Chrismas, IBP’s Sales and Marketing Director. “The challenge now is to make criminals understand that the already high risk of conviction from robbing Smokenote™ premises is now untenable.” For more details about Smoketrace™ contact info@ibp-group.com or call +44 (0)1428 641399.
