ADT win IBP-Flying Squad Challenge Trophy ADT clinched the annual Flying Squad Challenge Trophy at this year’s IBP Robbery Symposium held at Hayling Island Sailing Club last month.
Alan Townsend, Chairman of Raid Control and Crime Prevention Coordinator for the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad, presented the trophy on behalf of the Flying Squad to Chris Hall, Account Manager with ADT who captained the winning team. Five teams, made up of heads of security, police and installers/suppliers of security equipment took part in the event aboard five high-speed Rigid-Inflatable craft, occasionally jumping white-knuckle, six-foot waves across the Solent. “Supporting partnerships is part of my job,” said Alan, an experienced sub-aqua enthusiast and career detective, “and hanging onto a bucking RIB travelling at speeds of over 45 knots is one of the more curious aspects of the job.” The IBP-Flying Squad Trophy was the culmination of the two day symposium, launching ‘Focus-on-Robbery’, an academic forum sponsored by IBP and chaired by Richard Childs QPM. With a restricted membership of industry experts drawn from high street networks, cash-in-transit companies and police, the forum analyses trends in methods, monitors relevant health and safety legislation and case law and assesses best practice used to prevent and deter robbery.
