Tiger Kidnap and the Duty of Care Detective Superintendent Tim White, head of the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad, gave a compelling talk on Tiger Kidnap as part of IBP International’s Robbery Symposium and Open Day programme recently.
DS White was keen to raise awareness of Tiger Kidnap, a crime-in-action where someone in authority is taken hostage until such time as a ransom demand is met. He emphasised the need for businesses to inform police immediately of any such incident and not to try to handle it on their own. He also stressed that the police were specially trained to deal with these situations and always made hostage safety their number one priority. DS White urged delegates to consider whether or not their companies had procedures in place to prepare for the event of a Tiger Kidnap. One IBP customer said: “Very informative. I understand, now, why, as is the duty of all organisations handling cash, we need to get on and put a plan in place.” More IBP Robbery Symposium press releases...
