“A raid-rate
of 5% is an acceptable risk level from a health and safety
point of view” That is one of the issues that will be debated by security industry experts during a Robbery Symposium organised by IBP International next month.
Leading authority Professor Martin Gill, who has published nine books and more than 50 articles on crime, security and policing, will be in the chair while Alan Dale (Lunn Poly) and Steve Press (Southampton City Council) will be supporting the motion. Arguing against them will be David Dickinson (BSIA) and Steve Nelson (Thomas Cook). The debate will be followed by a presentation from Detective Superintendent Tim White, head of the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad entitled Tiger Kidnap. As well as focussing on key matters relating to raid rates and robbery control, there will also be a chance for delegates to view a number of new products on the market including IBP’s RoboCash cash management system and Axytrans Smart CIT vehicle. The symposium, which takes place at the Portsmouth Harbour Yacht Club from 11-12 September, will end on a lighter, but competitive note, when three IBP teams will take on three boats chartered by ADT High Security Group for the IBP-Flying Squad Challenge Trophy.
