Digby Ram, Managing Director, and Neil Chrismas, Director of Marketing, attended New Scotland Yard on 11 January 2007 to receive the commendation from Detective Chief Superintendent Sharon Kerr, head of the Specialist Crime Directorate operational command unit.

In presenting the award, Sharon Kerr outlined the support IBP had provided the MPS Flying Squad for almost ten years in supplying complimentary temporary rapid reaction smoke packs.

Sharon Kerr said: “We hear a lot about partnerships and working with industry and here is an excellent example of theory being put into practice. I am grateful to IBP for their continued support over a sustained period and am delighted to award my personal commendation to them.

Smoke packs are installed to help protect vulnerable High Street retailers from violent robberies. Additionally, IBP were co-founders of the highly successful national crime reduction initiatives Banknote Watch and Raid-control™, managed from New Scotland Yard.

Digby Ram was overwhelmed with the accolade and said: “It is essential that the security industry plays its part in helping to reduce violent crime and on behalf of the whole IBP team I am honoured to receive this commendation.”

Following the award ceremony several members of the IBP team attended for a group photograph in front of the world-famous revolving Met Police sign outside New Scotland Yard.
