Focus on Robbery & Serious Crime Symposium 2012

Event Overview

The IBP Focus on Robbery™ & Serious Crime Symposium is proud to be announce that, following on from the unprecedented success of last years 10th anniversary event, this years event has been confirmed for the 20th & 21st September 2012.

Symposium 2009

The Symposium is the only event of its kind in the Security calendar and is widely regarded as an excellent forum for stimulating academic content, understanding latest crime trends and commercial networking.

The Symposium is aimed at delegates from a wide range of businesses from major high street retailers including supermarkets, clothing stores and convenience food outlets, to high street banks, independent ATM deployers, and the cash in transit industry. Last years event attracted more than 100 attendees from across these sectors along with key sponsors from industry.

Following on from the success of our anniversary event last year, IBP have arranged another exciting programme with a mix of first-rate speakers already confirmed for this years event.
This years Symposium is focussing on the different approaches to the continual threats being experienced and looking at the wide range of solutions being used to counter them. Case studies will be presented by experts in their field from retail, cash-in-transit, banking, Police and heritage along with presentations from the British Security Industry Association, Loughborough University and Facewatch.

We are very pleased to have Richard Childs QPM, veteran conference facilitator, formerly Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable and Managing Director of ACPO CPI, chairing the event for the 9th year in succession.

This year we are very pleased to be joined by Assistant Chief Constable Matt Jukes from Specialist Crime, South Wales Police who is the ACPO lead for the Commercial Robbery Working Group. He will be presenting on the topic of commercial robbery and the combined industry and Police response.

The Symposium is held at the Hayling Island Sailing Club on the south coast and the unique venue contributes to the success of the event. Held over 2 days the Symposium commences with a full itinerary of speaker presentations throughout Thursday, followed by the annual dinner which offers networking opportunities in a more informal setting. Friday consists of a morning session of speaker presentations followed this year, for those that wish to take part, by a BBQ lunch and rib trip on the Solent.

The Focus on Robbery™ Partnership is a joint not-for-profit initiative formed in 2004 by IBP Group, to harness expertise from every discipline that has an interest in understanding the
reasons for criminal behaviour, analysing the effectiveness of current reduction measures and reducing crime. There is no charge for delegates to attend the Symposium other than to arrange and pay for accommodation.
